*A smelly troll shows up*

BAM!

So today, my message is for healers, yes for YOU, my colleagues that keep the raid alive, that chose the path of pain while doing dailies (or actually, i think many including me abandoned them while being resto), not being able to gank anyone over lvl 10.

HOWEVER, OUR DAYS OF SUFFERING ARE GONE. The sexy, shmexy, awesome super duper troll in the name of Zkygge will save us all from Stagger and his madness when a tank dies!!

Beware Stagger, this is your day of happiness, YOU DONT HAVE TO BREAK YOUR MAC ANYMORE FROM FRUSTRATION!!!

Zkygge proudly presents: INSTANT HEALTH MOD.

http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/12837/

When you are a healer and you see the tank take damage, in reality the tank took this damage 0.3 seconds ago. Tank UI must send the information to server and server will send the information that the tank took damage to your UI, which takes around 0.3 seconds on average, depending on how terrible your latency is.

SO, you dont have to worry about latency with Instant Health. This mod updates raid health from combat log, making you see the damage 0.3 seconds quicker. While using this mod, i seen the tank health jump much more often. Having every healer cast a spell 0.3 seconds earlier will save TON of people. How many times you were frustrated because someone died as you finished the heal cast? Well, if you had Instant Health, the person would not die.

SO, my dear healers. I invite you to download Instant Health. This mod will make your life easier, smoother and you will not want to kill yourself and throw your PC out of the window from hearing Stagger curse on vent! I guarantee this mod will save many people from dying, including tanks. This means, less time wiping, more time killing.

MORE DETAILED INFORMATION INC

his addon updates the health of player/party/raid members and pets much faster then normal by using the combat log rather then waiting for the server to send updated health info.

http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/12837/

It is not fully compatible with the default blizzard unit frames and will cause taint issues, most noticably the target of target frame can stop working in combat. This addon should however be compatible with ANY custom addon! It is therefore recommended
that you get unit frames that replace at least blizzards target of target frame when using this addon.

Notice, only the health of player/party/raid members and pets updates faster. Players and mobs that are not in your group will have their health updated like normal. This due to the fact their exact health is not know to the client which is needed for the addon to calculate someones health. Also, due to no UNIT_HEALTH event being generated for the target of target and target of focus frames these frames may be updated slower then your other frames depending on what unit frames you are using and how they update these frames.

http://www.curse.com/downloads/details/12837/
Here are some details for the interested reader:
The server doesn't send health updates faster then once every 0.3 seconds, sometimes it's slower.
Combat log messages are sent as soon as the event happens making damage and healing show at the client before the affected units health is updated.
There are strong indications that the server not just sends health updates a bit slow, but that it in fact calculates the health at intervals of roughly 0.3 seconds.
It is possible, sometimes, to get in a heal on someone with negative health if the heal lands almost exactly after the health drops to negative. If it's a instant cast heal and it's cast to slow but before the client knows the target is dead the heal is wasted and the person still dies.

We're playing a damn fantasy game, do we really NEED a longwinded explanation to go slay a dragon? We got swords, she's got loot, 'nuff said.

i think a couple healers tried it out back then, but i think it was really buggy back then...the latest incarnation is probably more stable, even with taint issues (i find a little bit of baby powder clears that right up).

I don't know many people that use blizzard unit frames and i don't think there is still a reason to keep it.

I've had it since release, it didn't seem to make much of a difference at the beginning. On fights where damage was slow but had heavy bursts you can't really tell. i.e. Supremus; the volcano ticks are slow, Supremus' swings are nothing crazy just hard.

Later on with the help of docking grim reaper, when it came to having fights where a player pulls aggro and takes a couples swings in under a second to a 1 second time period and die, instead of their health bar just dropping to 0% and looking like an instant kill, it drops accordingly to when the swings hits the player. (One really hard punch to the face, now splits into 2 quick punches! Players will still die either way, it just makes the death more enjoyable to watch!)

I never really had issue with health bar updates, so it took a couple updates and specific fights to really see the changes. On fights where there's a lot of damage taken during the raid to different individuals at different times (for example, Hyjal tanks) shows how effective how the mod can be. With those certain lag issues we all encounter sometimes (Shattered Hand server lag) raid health bars sometime will drop together in sync, I think this mod clears that issue up for me since I never see it happen anymore. Also any kind of dot/tick (Bloodboil) this mod is really effective during that fight.

You don't have to use it, I trust a good number of our healers don't need the mod; Deloused and Ptaah I bet if the server had a seizure and for some reason froze everyone's health bar and we couldn't see who was taking damage they could do some crazy Ninja-healing predictions with their eyes closed or blindfolded and save the raid keeping everyone alive.

But all of you are not as good as them so get the damn mod and shut up or I'll treat your prostate like a day at the gynecologist and scrape the inner walls with a sharp knife.

"crazy Ninja-healing predictions"

I never got this actual mod, but I noticed that the recent update to X-perl added support for a library which does the same thing (possibly even better?) If you have X-perl 2.4.3+ then don't get the mod Zkygge linked, get this:

http://files.wowace.com/LibQuickHealth-1.0/LibQuickHealth-1.0.zip

I definitely notice a difference and it's already resulted less swiftmend overheals. If nothing else, it will make your raid frames look like a spectrum analyzer on an Aphex Twin song.
